about chat

Looking for activities for people with early stages of dementia?

We have created our DVDs with themes that stimulate conversations and are based on memories that are often familiar to us all. Themes can include: Springtime or Bees or even Biscuits. There are lots of ideas to build conversations around!

Benefits to help stimulate your thinking

Through our work including providing activities for elderly people with dementia, we have seen that a positive shared experience can promote feelings of improved self esteem, confidence and mood. It can create a renewed sense of self and identity and improve cognition through stimulating, recalling and sharing memories. This can help to build rapport and encourage stronger connections. Positive shared experiences can reduce feelings of isolation, loneliness, low self worth and low mood, confusion and agitation.
We have chosen the themes of Let’s Chat DVD’s carefully to specifically appeal to the older person’s experiences. Enjoying the activities together may generate conversations where the older person’s life experiences, skills, abilities and achievements can be acknowledged. This helps to personalise and extend interactions beyond the viewing time of the DVD.

Let’s Chat DVDs, based on familiar themes, provide a unique positive shared experience.

They help to start conversations, promote cognitive stimulation through activities and support the individual and their companion to connect to the wider world together.

Let’s Chat Testimonials

Let’s Chat is a lovely idea, simple and slow in delivery, reaching those in need of stimulation as well as those on the dementia scale.

Val Jones

Occupational Therapist

I highly recommend Let’s Chat as a resource for anyone living with memory problems or dementia. It’s an enjoyable activity, designed to be shared with a companion, to support conversation. It uses elements of reminiscence and cognitive stimulation which are known to support function and wellbeing in people living with memory difficulties. Whilst it is a well-structured activity, it can be used flexibly with opportunities to chat more around different themes and topics as they may emerge.
I would recommend Let’s Chat as an entertaining and enjoyable way to help support cognitive function.

Really lovely – congratulations on a great resource!
